Assagao, Goa
A restored Portuguese-era house, a kitchen garden, and mornings with nowhere to be.
The house
We bought a falling-down Portuguese-era house in 2017 and spent two years undoing decades of bad additions rather than making new ones. What's left is the original laterite stone, the original floor tiles, and eleven rooms with nothing matching on purpose.
Breakfast comes from the kitchen garden out back. Dinner is whatever's ready — we tell you at check-in, not before.
